Week 8 has been nothing but interesting... I feel like I had so much work to do, but barely did any of it. I've just been having a hard time, so I sleep all my problems away and get very little work done. This has to change for the next three weeks, I've got to pull through. Besides that, Circle K's banquet was this Sunday, and it was a lot of fun!
One of the solutions I am proposing for my final part of the AP is to promote awareness of the issue, and advocate for more research on the problem. The disappearing bee colonies is an issue without a completely known source. This means we have to put more money and time into research to find a reason, then we can work on the solution. For now, we can bring awareness to the public and help encourage more research.
Looking back at my past blog posts and writings, I can definitely see the progress I've made, especially in relation to different habits of the mind. This being a research class, I had to do a lot of research on the topic of animal science. I have always been an animal lover, but never to the point where I would do research on the topic. This class has definitely brought out some curiosity, when it comes to researching more on the topic of animal science. I was introduced to different issues, which led me to look further into them. Responsibility and persistence are big habits that I also worked on in this class. Going to class and turning in all assignments takes a lot of responsibility, and I don't think they were my strongest habits of the quarter. Flexibility is also something that was worked on in class. Writing 39c is not an easy class, and it has lot of different assignments, so being flexible and attentive to due dates was a must. Lastly, openness was a huge one too, but largely overlooked. When doing research on controversial topics, having an open mind on conflicting opinions is very important, and I feel I definitely practiced.
Writing process has been something that I have always struggled with. I have never had good writing habits, because I always put off my writing until later. This was something that I struggled with even more now in college because of all my other obligations like classes and work. Having other difficult classes and work only caused me to push off my writing until the end, like I always have. This class was a little different, however, I actually turned in rough drafts of my essays, which was different compared to my previous writing classes. I still need to work on this area, especially the revision part.
